Titlis Mountain Ski Area – Uri Alps – Engelberg, Switzerland – 360 Photo

Titlis Mountain, a major mountain resort in Central Switzerland, peaks over Engelberg – an enclave of Obwalden, surrounded by the cantons of Bern, Nidwalden, and Uri.

In the Middle Ages, Engelberg was known for the educational quality of its Benedictine monastery, Engelberg Abbey. From the 19th century onwards, Engelberg became internationally known as a mountain resort and is visited as much for skiing and snowboarding as it is for its alpine character and breathtaking glacial views.

The official language of Engelberg is (the Swiss variety of Standard) German, but the main spoken language is the local variant of the Alemannic Swiss German dialect.
