Established in 2012 as the first national peri-urban park in Europe for both terrestrial and marine, the National Park of the Calanques in the French Riviera is one of 10 national parks in France.

Located within the metropolis of Aix-Marseille-Provence, the satellite image above shows Calanque de Sormiou, a Mediterranean Sea inlet in Marseille. This area is famous for its strongly cut coast made of white limestone, perfect for cliff climbing spots along the pristine azure seaside.

With its natural beauty and shallow tropical sea, Calanque de Sormiou at National des Calanques attracts between 1.5 to 2 million visitors each year.
