A legend of luxury in Russia, opened in 1905 the 5-star Metropol Hotel Moscow is considered one of the most significant historical and architectural monuments of the city of the Art Nouveau era. Built a grandiose cultural and leisure center by the famous philanthropist and industrialist Savva Ivanovich Mamontov, it is widely acclaimed as one of the most beautiful building in the city. Adorned with striking glass domes, openwork lattices and small turrets, the exterior central place on the facade is occupied by the panel “Princess of Dreams” made of colored ceramics from the Abramtsevo workshop based on a painting by Mikhail Vrubel. The murals and interior decor were made according to drawings and sketches by the artists Viktor Mikhailovich Vasnetsov and Konstantin Alekseevich Korovin. This is the oldest surviving operating hotel in Russia, previously claiming the title as the best hotel in the entire Russian Empire and setting new standards by which luxury was defined.

Inside the original rooms were designed and decorated in the pseudo-Russian style and in the spirit of neoclassicism. Now guests can choose between classical rooms with authentic early 20thcentury interiors and new Executive Room, Grand Superior, Deluxe, Deluxe Suite, Metropol Suite, Premier Suite, Ambassador Suite categories. These are the suites where the most renowned guests of the hotel used to stay. Some of the rooms overlook Teatralniy proezd or Lubyanka Square. The renovated rooms have retained the spirit of Moscow Art Nouveau style and the Metropol unique traits: windows with low sills overlooking the majestic historical center of the city, antique furniture and decorative elements from the late 19th and early 20th century. The new rooms are at least twice the space of historical rooms and have elements of past decor which are combined with modern design and functions.

The Metropol Hotel located in the historical heart of Moscow, is opposite the Bolshoi Theatre, a few steps from Red Square, the Kremlin and in close proximity to its main attractions. Near the Teatralnaya metro station and Teatralnaya Ploshchad bus stop, it is only a 35-minute drive from Sheremetyevo International Airport. A cultural landmark in Russia, notable guests of Metropol include French Presidents Jacques Chirac, Pakistani Pervez Musharraf, Chinese President Hu Jintao, Giorgio Armani, Pierre Cardin, Montserrat Caballe, Placido Domingo, Francis Ford Coppola, Luc Besson, Catherine Deneuve, Annie Girardot, Sharon Stone, Julio Iglesias, Enrique Iglesias, Elton John, Michael Jackson and many others.
